When choosing between dentures and dental implants you have to at least know the basics so that you wouldn’t have to look like a deer staring at a truck’s headlights when you read articles about them that uses some big heavy medical words.
So here’s a simple way to understand them:
Dentures can be removed and put back in your mouth whenever you want to.
Dental implants, on the other hand, can’t be removed. It is securely in place.
As you might have remembered in the back of your mind, dentures are those set of teeth that you may have witnessed your grandparents have used in the past. But still dentures are still in use these days. It doesn’t cost too much and making a denture modelled out of your mouth or teeth alignment is pretty fast and easy for a cosmetic dentist to produce.
The only problem with dentures is that since it is detachable there are some patients who forget where they have stored them or even forget to put them on. Some dentures may have the tendency to loosen or just accidentally drop from your mouth while in the middle of a laughter. And it may not be as strong as the real tooth.
But due to its being less expensive and fast to make it is preferred by some dental clients.
Dental implants, in contrast to dentures, are screwed in place in your jawbone (the bone beneath the gums). These implants’ roots are made of titanium metal with a tooth crown attached on top of it. It is resilient and resembles your real tooth.
Sedation or anaesthetics will be used during the procedure to make you calm and comfortable while your cosmetic dentist works on your teeth.
Since it is tightly in place, you won’t have to worry about it falling off suddenly during an intense conversation or forgetting it at the downstairs bathroom for visitors to see. It may cost you a bit more but it is worth it.
If you have any more inquiries regarding dental implants and dentures, it is still best to consult a certified cosmetic dentist.
